In 2023, Des Moines had a 48 Hour Film Project where teams have 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film. I participated with a small team as a graphic designer. Our short film was required to feature a doppleganger, so we decided to have our main character be the only face featured throughout the film. This meant that any ads, tv anchors, door salesmen, etc. had to have the same face as our character. I designed a series of props and graphics featured in the short film, our intention was to have them be gaudy and kitschy. Our short film won an award for Best Production Design at the screening.

I created a title screen shown on the tv by manipulating a typeface to give it a sitcom feel. For the poster, I took a frame from the finished piece and overlayed the title on the tv.
Since we were committing to the bit of our main character being the only face featured, I manipulated artwork to only include our actor's face. My first few passes at this were labeled too blended, so we made the decision to have it be a blatant add on so it would be noticed in a smaller version on screen.

Another prop that was needed for the film was a flyer for door-to-door salesman to have on hand. I wanted it to purposely look like it was made in Microsoft Word. Knowing that this would never receive a close up in the film, I still added the fine print to keep the look and add some humorous commentary to the flyer.
Our main character was a big fan of TV dinners, so I recreated HungryJack tv dinners to fit our specific needs for the short film.
